The Issue Of Obesity And Overweight TeenagersYou don't have to go far these days to come across a teenager who is overweight. But one thing you may not know, is that many of these overweight teenagers are actually becoming obese. Obesity is a very serious illness and can lead to all sorts of other medical conditions. Unfortunately, it's often a fine line between being overweight and being clinically obese. Unfortunately many of these teenagers are even developing heart conditions which restricts them from living an ordinary life. It doesn't stop there either, because many of them even develop diabetes and this coupled with obesity is a very hard thing to live with such an early age. Teenagers who suffer from these conditions have a very hard time sitting in with the other teenagers and can often become withdrawn and less sociable. Obesity costs governments millions and millions every single year, so tackling the problem in teenagers before they develop any serious illness is a prime issue in the world today. Unfortunately however, childhood obesity rises every single year and doesn't like slowing down anytime soon. In fact, in America alone it rises over 5% every single year which is why America has the highest population of overweight teenagers and adults in the world. There are many things that can be done to try to prevent obesity and overweight teenagers. You must try and encourage your teenager as much as possible to become more active and live a healthier lifestyle. It is a shame that the teenage culture in the world today just like to live on fast food and are more than happy just sat in front of the TV or playing on their favourite games console. So you as a parent, must give your teenager as much encouragement as you possibly can. It is at the end of the day your responsibility to make sure they are healthy and have as much chance to have the best life that they can.Obviously you want to do this in as kind a way as you can without hurting their feelings. But you must also make them aware of the problems they could face if they carry on living the current lifestyle that they are. Having a heart condition for instance, at such an early age, can affect them to the rest of their lives. And making them aware of this will make them more likely to do something about it.
